I was very apprehensive about todays run. The last training session I did, on Friday, left me totally knackered – and it was only 45 minutes long. At the end of it, my feet felt like they were on fire. After that experience, I was in two minds about whether to go running today or whether to skip todays run to give me a longer chance to rest. In the end, though, I’m glad I did. Read the rest of this entry »

On the weekend, as part of Digital Scarborough ‘08, I took part in an event called the Codeathon. Basically, this involved several of Scarborough’s creative community coming together and attempting to build two websites from scratch (almost – we were using Joomla! as our CMS) for two local charities.
The whole event was streamed live (in parts) over the internet, where you can even catch a glimpse of me interviewing one of the founders of the Joomla! project, Brian Teeman. Watch it now!

One thing about running in a marathon in Summer is that you have to put in a lot of training over the Winter months. In a country like Britain, with our unique weather, this can be risky and sometimes downright dangerous (black ice, anyone?). Combine this with our practice of putting clocks back and forward and the result is a lot of time spent running in the dark. Read the rest of this entry »
